Bobby Orr, the greatest Bruin, EVER, hit the Boston airwaves this week defending his one-time coach Don Cherry. Cherry, a staple of Hockey Night in Canada was fired for his comments on what he viewed as a decline in respect by Canadians for not wearing poppies on Remembrance Day in honor of vets and those killed defending their freedoms.

Orr said the following about Cherry, affectionately known as “Grapes”:

“I know Grapes better than anybody. He’s not a bigot and he’s not a racist. This guy is the most generous caring guy that I know. What they’ve done to him up there is disgraceful, it really is,” Orr told the guys.

This is what Cherry was fired for saying:

“You people … you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that,” Cherry said. “These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price.”

Cherry recently appeared on the Tucker Carlson Show to defend himself.
