To my surprise, a long-time client emailed this to me yesterday. But before I show you the email, here’s the backstory: Your Survival Guy has been working with him for decades now. Every January, we talk about his income needs, satisfying his RMD, etc. It’s typical stuff. And every January, he tells me about his plan for the next couple of months as he escapes the cold, dark winters of Alaska. Before he departed for the lower 48, some R&R in Florida, some time researching and writing about his father, a WWII fighter pilot, and road trips to see family, he told me he’d be fishing the Amazon this year. And this is what he emailed me yesterday:
Subject: Perfect Example of Proper Planning

I want to show you this 14lb Peacock bass that We caught in the Amazon last week. To catch one of these, planning is everything. The right rod, reel, matched line, and fly presented perfectly. To do that you have to be at the right place at the right time. That’s where you come in. The “we” I refer to is me and you. Without your help and financial assistance, the above could not be. I hope you like our fish and take pride in your part of this great experience. Here’s to many more years of success.
