Your Survival Guy’s been reading dog books rapid-fire to get up to speed on working with our puppy Stanton. One is Puppy Kindergarten, The New Science of Raising a Great Dog by Brian Hare, and Vanessa Woods.
In Chapter 7, we learn about temperament. We all know what makes our dogs special. Their different quirks, looks, and cognition abilities. But what’s most interesting is that humans have a lot in common with dogs when it comes to temperament. We’re born with our temperament. Yes, we can work on it and change how we react to different situations. We can control our tempers. But we, and dogs, have a temperament at birth, and it never leaves us.
Changing gears: Knowing your temperament can help you as you invest in your retirement life. Knowing your disposition can help when times get tough. I’ve never met anyone who likes losing money. But how we react in times of stress can be better understood beforehand. It just takes time for you to understand you.
Action Line: Do you know you? A lot of heartache can be avoided by understanding the answer. When you want to talk about it, email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com. I’m serious.
P.S. Meet Stanton.
